Facebook at Saturation Point?

The total number of people now using Facebook is 500 million. That’s a lot of people, but it turns out we’re nearing saturation point.

Personally, I don’t like Facebook. Lots of others share my point of view. Plenty more don’t – there are millions of people that love being part of the global popularity contest.

Over the last year, I’ve spoken to dozens of Facebookers who are considering closing their accounts. The problem is, can they actually click the delete button and go back to ‘normal’ communication? I don’t think they can. And what are they going to do with all those pictures?

Just like Google’s made sure we cannot leave them ever (read my post about just this), Facebook seems to be taking over as the communication medium for generations of people around the world.

If we’re all going to ditch Facebook, we’ll need something else to communicate with sharp. What’s it going to be? Linkedin?
